Asheville, NC native Miya Bailey has made a name for himself as an black tattoo artist and visual artist in the Atlanta area. Six years ago, he co-founded the popular “City of Ink” tattoo and art gallery in Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill Arts district. The shop has been featured in Inked, Urban Ink, and Giant magazine. He’s even refused 4 times a role on the popular “Black Ink Crew” because it didn’t symbolized him or his shop. He takes great value in his image as black tattoo artist. From the early 90s, the numbers have increased from just a hand full of black tattoo artists, when he started, to now thousands. He felt the need to tell the story and journeys of African-American tattoo artists in his published documentary “Color Outside the Lines.”
